There's nowt to do!
The bowling green has yet to open but the local bright sparks who have nothing to do decided to get mud all over their shoes and wipe them off on the new bowling green.
I can imagine the scene " There's some mud over there, lets get lathered up and then wipe it off", "Yeah, that's a great idea, it should be good fun, we can do that for hours" .
You couldn't make it up.

well, i suppose they couldn't do it on that nice grassy field in the background, could they ... but then you would have little more than a picture to blog with ... thank you bright sparks for a story to tell!
